SIF strengthens island voices by ensuring that islanders have direct access to Scottish Government policymakers in areas that are critical to improving the quality of life for island communities.
Many of the challenges and opportunities around the likes of housing, transport, broadband, healthcare, population decline, climate change, childcare, fuel poverty and cost of living, are widely shared by island communities. However, it is often difficult for individual organisations to get their views across and respond effectively to important policy consultations.
SIF acts as a conduit to ensure that members are informed about relevant policy and are able to work collectively to support and influence policy and decision-making. We share policy news, work with members to prepare joint submissions, and increasingly, facilitate member policy sessions to enable direct discussion with the Scottish Government.
