In follow up to our meeting in November, SIF is hosting a meeting on digital connectivity resilience for members on Thursday 25 June 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Zoom.
Earlier this year SIF was asked to provide evidence to the Scottish Affairs Committee Digital Connectivity Enquiry – Call for evidence on Scottish Islands Digital Resilience – and many members supported this with feedback to our member survey.
This year has also seen extended loss of connectivity in Orkney and Islay as a result of sub-sea cable damage and the purpose of the meeting is to share learning from the situation in Orkney, and what actions island communities are taking forward around resilience, an update from Tiree and discussion on what still needs to improve.
Priorities highlighted will then form the basis of contact with our new Scottish Government cabinet and MSP’s and to help inform a further meeting with the Scottish and UK Governments.
