This week, Scottish Coastal Clean Up, a project of the Balanced Horizon charity, is bringing its crucial marine conservation work to the heart of Scottish politics with an exhibition at the Scottish Parliament.
The exhibition will shed light on the urgent challenges faced by beach-cleaning organisations across Scotland and advocate for greater awareness, policy change, and industry accountability in the fight against marine litter pollution.
What’s more, they’re taking our striking litter sculpture with them! _Tarbh na Muraige_ (‘Flotsam Bull’) stands as a bold reminder of the pressing challenges faced by island communities and the need for targeted actions to reduce marine industry waste at its source – including litter from fishing, aquaculture and shipping
Wonderful to see Ariane Burgess, MSP for Highlands and Islands (Region) and member of the Scottish Green Party, as the first visitor to the Scottish Coastal Clean Up’s exhibition on marine litter at the Scottish Parliament today. She has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting and restoring Scotland’s marine environment and we value her support.

Also, a special thanks to Jenni Minto, MSP for Argyll and Bute, for sharing her experiences of beach cleans and supporting this important cause!
