Cross Party Group on Islands: Focus on NIP review (Session 1)

The 5th CPG Islands meeting took place on 28th February 2024 and focused on the review of the National Islands Plan (NIP). Adele Lidderdale of the Institute of Northern Studies (UHI) is currently researching the impact of the NIP and set the scene for the CPG discussion with the history of the NIP, the 13 strategic objectives included within it, and reflections on some of the current and future challenges and opportunities in its implementation.

The Cross Party Group on Islands in the Scottish Parliament provides a forum for the discussion of issues relevant to Scotland’s islands and the residents of island communities, and it aims to improve links between the Scottish Parliament and island communities. Secretariat for the CPG is provided by Scottish Rural Action and the Scottish Islands Federation.
