Cross Party Group on Islands.

The Cross-Party Group (CPG) on Islands in the Scottish Parliament was formed in 2021.  It meets 4 to 6 times per year and since 2023, SIF has acted as group secretariate, alongside Scottish Rural Action.

Through the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018, the Scottish Parliament recognised that Scotland’s Island communities have distinct needs and opportunities that require different approaches to the delivery of public services, as well as better recognition within policy and legislation.  The CPG provides a forum for island residents and stakeholders to discuss relevant issues, creating connections and growing the understanding of island matters, needs and aspirations across the Scottish Parliament.
