• Fuel costs and their effects on island communities
• European Maritime policy.  At the moment the EU Parliment is in the consultation stage of possible legislation which WILL effect all islands in the EU.  Two of our guest speakers will be helping us to participate in the debate at an early stage, and probably effect change.  Elspeth Atwool MEP is the vice chair of the Fisheries Committee and her views are often valued.  (more to follow on this subject before is is opened up for debate and action) 
• R.E.T.  The Scottish Parliament have announced that Road Equivalent Tariff  will be introduced on routes to the Western Isles (Outer Hebrides).  This is an exciting and important development.  We are keen to monitor this process closely, particularly in the consultation stages.
• Ferries.  This
information will be listed on the same page as R.E.T
• Broadband  The minister (Jim Mather) outlined proposals to introduce the next generation of Broadband.  Many island communities haven't yet got the first generation sorted.  SIF should help feedback to the minister to assist in the process.
• Planning  Soon, changes planning is implementation  Community Councils will be involved to a far greater extent.  Also, the Crown Commission have handed over planning issues for the seabed to local councils.  Feedback in implementation required soon!
• Fisheries and the Islands.  You will find interesting information on small islands fisheries and the CFP reform.
