MEP's signs the Scottish Islands Federation's Islands Champion Pledge! on the 7th March in Tobermory, on the isle of Mull, Alyn Smith MEP signed the Islands Champion Pledge which supports the campaign for better conditions for those that live and work on Scottish islands. More information  Also since then, George Lyon for the lib Dem, and Ian Duncan as well as Asim Khan for labour have signed the Island Champion pledge!

Islands have their own issues reg arding all aspects of life, which are not always widely understood by public bodies and funding agencies.

They also have their own solutions to ensure that island communities remain vibrant and strong.

The Scottish Islands Federation was set up in 2008 to assist island organisations and individuals to express their unique points of views, share their stories and make better representations at local, regional, national and European level, on all issues affecting the sustainability of the Scottish islands. 


Western Isles Council launches SCOTLAND’S ISLANDS, to  ‘showcase islands’ vibrant cultures and creativity, outstanding natural environment and quality produce to the world’.
